San Francisco row houses tend to have dark central rooms and turn their backs on their gardens. This addition and renovation adds a three-story wood and glass tower at the rear, with a two-story skylit void at the center. The modern interior is infused with soft daylight and accented by natural wood, plaster, and steel. Shifting floor levels and ceiling heights impart a sense of the original Victorian’s scale.
